Umo Eno Celebrates Akwa Ibom's 39th Anniversary with Progress

On September 23, 2026, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno commemorated the state's 39th anniversary in a statewide broadcast. He expressed optimism that the best chapters of the state's story are still ahead, reflecting on 39 years characterized by faith, resilience, and progress.

Eno acknowledged the contributions of past leaders and various sectors of society. His administration's ARISE Agenda aims to empower citizens and enhance infrastructure, with over 1,500 kilometers of roads and 43 bridges developed.

In education, the state has maintained free compulsory education, disbursed N1.69 billion in bursaries, and recruited 3,000 teachers. Eno announced full scholarships for Uwakmfon Unwana Jacob and Dr Joseph Akpan for studies in software engineering and medicine, respectively.

In healthcare, 258,000 people are enrolled in a medical insurance scheme, and ambulance services are available in every local government area. The governor also noted support for farmers and the delivery of a fifth aircraft for Ibom Air, reaffirming commitment to the Ibom Deep Seaport project and tourism investments.
