Alia's Commitment to Revive Taraku Mills Amid Insecurity

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has declared a firm commitment to eradicating terrorism from the state to facilitate the revival of Taraku Mills. During an unscheduled inspection visit to the mill located in Gwer East Local Government Area, he assessed ongoing maintenance work on the multi-billion naira state-owned processing company.

Alia identified insecurity as the greatest threat to agricultural productivity and economic growth in the state, stating that his administration will not relent until criminal elements are removed. He noted that although Benue farmers have the capacity to supply the factory with soybean, maize, and groundnut, persistent insecurity undermines efforts to revive the mill.

Alia assured that the fight against terrorism will continue until the land is cleared of such threats. He expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of the rehabilitation work, stating that production would commence within the project timeframe and urged farmers to increase their output in anticipation of the mill's reopening, which is expected to create a robust agricultural value chain and stimulate economic activity in the state.
