Governor Alia Orders Manhunt After Benue Terror Attack

On July 1, a terrorist attack occurred in the Saai community, Mbajir Ward, within the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, leading to the deaths of several individuals and injuries to others. Governor Hyacinth Alia condemned the attack, describing it as a "senseless cowardly assault" on innocent residents.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Alia criticized the timing of the attack, which coincided with the period when farmers were returning to their ancestral lands to cultivate crops. He expressed sympathy for the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Alia emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and food security in the state and urged the community not to be discouraged. He directed security agencies to deploy additional personnel to the area and ordered a manhunt for the attackers to ensure justice is served.
