Benue Governor Alia Renames Corporation for Dan Agbese

On Tuesday, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State announced the renaming of the Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation to Dan Agbese Printing and Publishing Corporation in honor of the late veteran journalist Dan Agbese. Alia made this disclosure via an official post on Facebook, highlighting Agbese's legacy as a respected journalist whose contributions to journalism and public discourse deserve recognition.

Agbese, who passed away last weekend, was widely regarded as an influential figure in Nigerian media, co-founding Newswatch in 1984 alongside notable journalists Dele Giwa, Rai Ekpu, and Yakubu Mohammed. Throughout his five-decade career, Agbese held various editorial and managerial positions, including editor at New Nigerian and Nigeria Standard, and he served as managing editor and chief editor at Newswatch.

Governor Alia extended condolences to Agbese's family and the Nigerian media community, emphasizing the enduring impact of Agbese's work and his commitment to truth in journalism.
