Nigeria Urges KOICA, FAO to Align Agricultural Projects

On Wednesday, during a courtesy visit from officials of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, called for stronger alignment between development partners' interventions and Nigeria's national development priorities. This appeal was made in the context of the KOICA-FAO 2026 Multi-Bilateral Project, which aims to promote resilient agricultural systems and create green jobs for youth in Nigeria and other African countries.

Senator Bagudu emphasized the importance of focused, measurable development programs that can deliver scalable results, drawing lessons from Korea's transformation from an agricultural economy to a global economic player. He noted the need for interventions to align with Nigeria's long-term vision under Agenda 2050 and highlighted the necessity of targeted approaches in specific communities to ensure effectiveness.

He cited Nasarawa State's women rice farmers and Bayelsa State's aquaculture potential as examples of areas where focused support could yield significant benefits.
