Lagos Health Commissioner Confirms 8 Dialysis Machines at Alimosho

Akin Abayomi, the Lagos State Commissioner of Health, clarified that Alimosho General Hospital in Igando has eight functional dialysis machines, countering an online claim that the facility only has one. In a post on X, Abayomi stated that six machines serve general dialysis patients, while two are reserved for patients living with HIV or hepatitis, adhering to infection prevention protocols.
The dialysis center operates from 6 am until the last patient is attended to, often extending to midnight, and conducts up to 200 dialysis sessions each month. The hospital is equipped with a dedicated standby generator to ensure uninterrupted service.
Abayomi also mentioned that dialysis services are available at several other public health facilities in Lagos, including Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), General Hospital Lagos, General Hospital Gbagada, IDH Yaba, and FMC Ebute Metta, with additional centers being developed to enhance healthcare services for residents.
