Affordable Dialysis: Federal Government's Subsidy Initiative

Kidney disease is increasingly becoming a significant health challenge in Nigeria, necessitating dialysis for many patients. The high cost of treatment has made it unaffordable for numerous families.

In response, the Federal Government has launched a subsidy program aimed at alleviating the financial burden on patients with kidney failure. This initiative allows eligible patients to access subsidized dialysis services at selected federal hospitals.

Among the hospitals participating in this program are LUTH, which serves Oyo State and nearby areas; ATBUTH in Bauchi State; FMC Ebute-Metta; FMC Owerri in Imo State; FMC Abeokuta; FMC Azare; and UBTH, which caters to patients in Edo State. The program is designed to expand access to life-saving dialysis treatment, which is crucial for patients awaiting kidney recovery or transplant.
