Adebutu Accuses Nigerian Governors of Embezzlement

Oladipupo Adebutu, the governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, accused all Nigerian governors of misappropriating local government allocations. Speaking at a meeting with the Egba Traditional Council in Abeokuta, Adebutu called for full financial autonomy for local governments, asserting that this would transform the nation's governance.

He emphasized that the current governors, regardless of their political affiliations, have diverted local government funds, which has hindered development at the local council level. Adebutu criticized the reliance on borrowing for infrastructure, promising instead to construct roads and improve connectivity in Ogun State.

He was accompanied by his running mate, Lateefat Sowunmi, and other PDP leaders, including Ogun State PDP chairman Abayomi Tella. Adebutu's advocacy for local government autonomy was supported by Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the paramount ruler of Egbaland, who described Adebutu as trustworthy and reliable, expressing confidence in his leadership qualities.
