Nigerian Presidency Stands Firm on Tax Law Implementation Amid Opposition Pushback

The Nigerian Presidency has refuted allegations of secret alterations to the recently enacted tax reform law, stating that no amount of opposition pushback will hinder its implementation starting January 1, 2026. The law, aimed at overhauling the country's tax system, has faced resistance from lawmakers, civil society organizations, and opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar.

Despite concerns raised by members of the House of Representatives, including Abdussamad Dasuki, the Presidency maintains that the law was passed through due legislative processes. Senior Special Assistant to the President, Temitope Ajayi, has defended the law against claims of alterations, emphasizing the government's commitment to its full effect.
