CSO Rejects Dismissal of Fraud Claims Against Kalu

The civil society group Good Governance CSGGG has publicly rejected claims that the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) dismissed allegations of certificate fraud against Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezi Kalu. In a press statement issued by the group's president, Domin Ogakwu, on Thursday in Abuja, it was asserted that the LPDC's dismissal was a misrepresentation of its jurisdiction.

The group emphasized that the LPDC should clarify its position regarding the allegations of fraudulent documentation against Kalu, who allegedly obtained a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate improperly. The statement also referenced past controversies involving former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, who resigned over similar allegations.

The group called for accountability, stating that the LPDC must ensure that individuals occupying high offices are fit for their roles, highlighting the importance of integrity in public service.
