EFCC Arraigns Ex-BSIEC Chairman and Others for N1.1bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Dr. Tersoo Loko, the former Chairman of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), and ten others before the Federal High Court in Makurdi.

They are accused of facing 30 counts of criminal misappropriation of public funds and money laundering amounting to N1.1 billion. The prosecution counsel, M.S.

Yusuf, listed the accused individuals, including Kulev Terlumun, Mtomga Manasseh, Denen Tatyough, Thaddeu Angwa, Domin Uwua, Igbawua Ades, Orkuma Emmanuel, Owoicho Odeh, and Mhir Iyeng Yusuf. The charges relate to the misappropriation and diversion of funds intended for the 2020 and 2022 local government elections.

Dr. Loko allegedly received cash commissions totaling N228.9 million, which were purportedly diverted for personal use.

The accused pleaded not guilty, and bail was granted at N50 million each. The case was adjourned to April 24 for further hearing.
