Court Grants KANSIEC Chair ₦200 Million Bail in ₦1 Billion Fraud Case

The Federal High Court in Abuja granted bail to the Chairman of Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), Ana Muham Mustapha, in the sum of ₦200 million over his alleged involvement in a ₦1 billion fraud case. Mustapha, along with the Secretary of KANSIEC, Ado Garba, and the Deputy Director of the agency's account department, are facing charges brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The accused individuals are alleged to have conspired to launder 450 million and misappropriate 310 million and 260 million respectively. They pleaded not guilty to the six-count charges.

The court ordered the accused to provide two sureties with properties worth at least ₦100 million each within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The trial is set to commence on March 4, 2026.
