Okechukwu Urges Tinubu to Maintain Alliance with Wike

Osita Okechukwu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged President Bola Tinubu to preserve his strategic alliance with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Okechukwu made this appeal on Sunday in Enugu, responding to efforts by some APC state governors to distance Tinubu from Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers.

He highlighted the importance of Wike's alliance, which he believes contributed to Tinubu's victory in the 2023 presidential election and could provide significant advantages in the 2027 elections. Okechukwu argued that Wike's political realignment has weakened opposition parties and that he could deliver more votes than some APC governors currently seeking to distance themselves from him.

He cautioned these governors to reflect on their conduct during the APC's gubernatorial and legislative primaries. Okechukwu expressed optimism about the three-week gap between the presidential election on January 16, 2027, and the gubernatorial election on February 6, 2027, viewing it as an opportunity for voters to evaluate government performance.
