Olesin Challenges APC Governors on Tinubu's Alliances

Amb. Tajudeen Olesin, a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who recently defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), asserted that APC governors lack the authority to dictate which political alliances President Bola Tinubu should pursue ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His comments were a response to the APC Governors Forum's announcement that its members would not support any alliances that could jeopardize Tinubu's re-election bid. Olesin expressed support for the Nyesom Wike-led Rainbow Coalition and argued that political actors should have the freedom to form alliances and endorse candidates from other parties.

He challenged APC governors to focus on their governance achievements, measuring their performance against issues like poverty reduction, healthcare, job creation, and infrastructure. Olesin emphasized that the decision regarding alliances should rest solely with President Tinubu and urged governors to strengthen their party structures and engage voters through their governance records.
