Obidi Movement Condemns AMAC Election Results as Fraudulent

Tanko Yunusa, the national coordinator of the Obidi Movement, criticized the results of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election held on Saturday, describing it as a "brazen assault on the foundation of democracy." In a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, Yunusa rejected the victory declared for the Progress Congress (APC), citing widespread violence, intimidation, and manipulation during the electoral process. He called for an immediate investigation into the conduct of the recently concluded election, asserting that the announced results did not reflect the will of the electorate.

The Obidi Movement expressed support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Mose Paul, and highlighted serious allegations, including the killing of an election agent, Musa Abubakar, who resisted attempts by hoodlums to seize ballot boxes. Yunusa urged civil society organizations and the international community to address these alleged irregularities to restore confidence in the electoral process.
