Amaechi Critiques Opposition Ahead of 2027 Elections

Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transport and Governor of Rivers State, criticized opposition leaders during a joint press conference in Abuja, calling them out for their disorganization and inability to provide a formidable alternative to the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections. He described the current state of Nigeria's democracy as a result of weak opposition parties, urging them to accept responsibility and work towards rebuilding public trust.

Amaechi reflected on his time in government under former President Muhammadu Buhari, recounting efforts for electoral reform that were allegedly frustrated within the cabinet. He suggested that Bola Tinubu's political confidence is largely driven by the fragmented and ineffective opposition.
