Amaechi Appears Publicly as Atiku's Running Mate for 2027

Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State and ex-Minister of Transport, made his first public appearance after being selected as the vice presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alongside Atiku Abubakar. The event took place at the Deeper Life Bible Church in Kado, Abuja, during an open global crusade led by Pastor Dr. William Folorunsho Kumuyi.

Amaechi's selection as running mate was announced on June 15, 2023, following consultations with party leaders and coalition partners across various geopolitical zones in Nigeria. This decision comes after Amaechi finished second in the ADC presidential primaries held in May 2026.

Political analysts view this pairing as a significant compromise aimed at unifying the opposition coalition, with the ADC describing the Atiku-Amaechi ticket as a strong alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the scheduled elections in January 2027.
