Amaechi, Omehia, Secondus Join ADC as Rivers Membership Hits 800,000

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has seen a significant increase in its membership, reaching 800,000 members, ahead of the 2027 general election. Former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia, as well as Prince Uche Secondus, the former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have officially joined the party.

Other notable figures who have defected to the ADC include former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Chief Austin Okpara and Dr. Abiye Sekibo.

The state publicity secretary of ADC, Luckyman Egila, described the party as a "beautiful bride" attracting influential politicians across the state. This influx of prominent figures is expected to reshape the political landscape of Rivers State as the party gears up for the 2027 polls.
