Amaechi Rejects Obi's Request to Withdraw for 2027 Election

During a meeting held over the weekend at his residence in Abuja, Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transport, rejected a plea from Peter Obi, the former governor of Imo State, to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race. Sources indicate that Amaechi's decision is resolute, as he emphasized his commitment to contesting the presidency.

The meeting also included notable figures such as Achike Udenwa and Victor Umeh. Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar has shown interest in the presidential race under the platform of the African Democratic Congress, which is led by Senator David Mark.

The Independent National Electoral Commission is set to fix party primaries between April 23 and May 30, with a mandate for parties to adopt direct primaries or consensus arrangements. Amaechi's firm stance on his candidacy suggests that he is serious about his ambitions and not merely engaging in a publicity stunt, as confirmed by ADC chieftain Ez Ez.
