Amaechi Vows to Change Nigeria’s Constitution, End Corruption in One Month if Elected President in 2027

Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has pledged to overhaul Nigeria's constitution and eliminate corruption within one month if elected President in the 2027 general election. Speaking on a Twitter Space session called Weekend Politics, Amaechi promised to replace the current system of indigeneship with citizenship rights to promote national unity.

He also vowed to tackle corruption head-on, stating that he would resign if he failed to achieve this goal within one month of taking office. Amaechi criticized the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, alleging that powerful figures frequently visit the Central Bank of Nigeria to siphon public funds.

He also criticized the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, and promised to reverse the removal of fuel subsidy to ensure that savings benefit ordinary Nigerians instead of the elite.
