GAC Endorses Hamzat as APC Consensus Candidate for 2027

On Tuesday, the Governor's Advisory Council (GAC) unanimously endorsed Obafemi Hamzat, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, as the consensus candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 governorship election. This announcement was made by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, following a meeting at the Lagos House Marina led by GAC leader Tajudeen Olusi.

The council's endorsement signals a growing alignment within the Lagos chapter of the APC as they prepare for the 2027 elections. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu publicly supported Hamzat as his preferred successor during a closed-door meeting at the Lagos House Marina.

Hamzat has expressed his intent to contest for the governorship seat, and the GAC's endorsement further consolidates his position within the party. Sanwo-Olu emphasized Hamzat's integrity, loyalty, and readiness to lead the state, highlighting his qualifications for the role.
