Tinubu Urges Senate to Amend Constitution for State Police

During an interfaith breakfast meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appealed to the Nigerian Senate to amend the constitution to facilitate the establishment of state police. He highlighted that the creation of state police has become an urgent necessity to effectively address Nigeria's evolving security challenges and to enhance grassroots policing capabilities.

Tinubu noted that a decentralized police structure would complement the existing federal security architecture and promote intelligence-led community policing. He acknowledged the cordial relationship between the executive and the Senate, emphasizing the need for unity to combat terrorism and banditry in the country.

Additionally, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to the Senate for its unwavering support towards achieving various economic reforms, including fuel subsidy removal and tax reform policies.
