Tinubu Promises State Police to Tackle Insecurity

During an interfaith iftar event in Abuja on Monday night, President Bola Tinubu declared the establishment of state police as a measure to combat rising insecurity in Nigeria. He assured Nigerians that the creation of state police would not be delayed and emphasized the need for local structures to address community challenges.

Tinubu also addressed political tensions in Kano State, urging Governor Abba Yusuf to promote peace following his recent defection to the New Nigeria Peoples Party, distancing himself from former political ally Rabiu Kwankwaso. He praised Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum for his Ramadan outreach efforts, which foster unity among Christians and Muslims.

Tinubu called for grassroots development and highlighted the significance of Ramadan coinciding with the Christian Lent season, promoting discipline and sacrifice. He was accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, among other governors and cabinet members.
