CITN Urges New Members to Enhance Fiscal Reform Compliance

The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), led by President Innoc Ohagwa, has called on new members to strengthen their compliance with fiscal reforms amid a significant overhaul of tax laws. Speaking at a pre-induction orientation program in Abuja on April 2026, Ohagwa highlighted the evolving tax landscape that necessitates highly skilled professionals capable of responding to new fiscal realities.

He stressed the importance of the tax profession in expanding compliance advisory roles and noted that the CITN is statutorily empowered to set standards for knowledge and competence required for entry into the profession. The program aims to adequately prepare prospective members for their journey in taxation, emphasizing the need for technical skills and ethical standards.

Dr. Titilayo Eni Itan Fowokan, Chairman of the CITN Tax Academy Committee, congratulated the inductees and underscored the importance of the pre-induction training in bridging the gap to full membership. The CITN remains committed to producing competent professionals who will add value to Nigeria's tax system and economic growth.
