Professor Joash Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is currently embroiled in controversy regarding allegations of partisanship that have emerged in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. These concerns intensified following a report on April 10, 2026, which linked Amupitan to a purportedly partisan social media account that supported the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2023 elections.
