INEC Chairman Amupitan Inspects Osun Offices for Polls

On Thursday, August 3, 2023, Prof. Joash Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), conducted an inspection of two local government offices in Osun State to evaluate the Commission's preparedness for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15.

Accompanied by a delegation of National Commissioners and the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner, Amupitan first visited the Osogbo Local Government INEC office, where he was welcomed by the Electoral Officer, Kadri Saburi Adetunji. Osogbo LGA, identified as one of the 10 election hotspots in the state, has 15 Registration Areas.

During the inspection, Amupitan reviewed hardware and electoral materials. He then proceeded to the Ede South Local Government INEC office, where he was received by the Electoral Officer, Ogunjide Ololade, who assured him of their readiness and requested assistance for perimeter fencing to enhance security.

The delegation included INEC National Commissioners and the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Oluwatoyin Babalola.
