ADC Youth to Protest INEC Chairman in Three States

The youth wing of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced plans for massive protests across Lagos, Ogun, and Jigawa states, targeting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Joash Amupitan. The protests, under the hashtag #AmupitanMustGo, are scheduled to begin at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos and at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) office in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Balarab Rufai, the ADC's national youth leader, made the announcement via social media. The protests aim to challenge the perceived bias of INEC under Amupitan's leadership, which the ADC claims favors the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and undermines free and fair elections.

The ADC youth plan to escalate their campaign beyond Abuja, where a previous protest occurred on April 8, 2026, featuring prominent opposition figures. The protests will be closely monitored by security agencies, raising concerns about public order and the potential for intervention.
