Tobi Amusan Claims Silver at World Athletics Ultimate Championship

Tobi Amusan won the silver medal in the women's 100m hurdles at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship held in Budapest, Hungary, on Friday. She finished the race in 12.34 seconds, securing second place behind United States Olympic champion Masai Russell, who won gold with a time of 12.22 seconds.

Netherlands’ Nadine Visser took third place, finishing in 12.39 seconds. Amusan, a former world record holder, was unable to reclaim the top spot from Russell, who had broken her world record with a time of 12.09 seconds at the Zurich Diamond League in August.

Reflecting on her performance, Amusan expressed gratitude and determination, stating she aimed to give her best despite a challenging season. She acknowledged the emotional difficulties she faced after previous setbacks, including a third-place finish at the Commonwealth Games and a fourth-place finish at the Diamond League Final.

Amusan credited her family, mentor, coach, and boyfriend for their support in helping her regain confidence.
