Tobi Amusan Wins Third African Championships Title

Tobi Amusan claimed her third African Championships title in the women's 100m hurdles at the 24th African Athletics Championship held in Ghana. Amusan, a record holder, finished first in the final, following her previous victories in 2018 on home soil and in Mauritius in 2022.

She set the pace throughout the event, finishing ahead of Zimbabwe's Ashlei Miller and Nigeria's Adaobi Tabugbo, who secured second and third places, respectively. Despite challenges such as a dysfunctional timing system and incomplete results, Amusan's performance in the heats and semi-finals was dominant.

She expressed gratitude for her victory and looked forward to the rest of the season. Nigeria also achieved notable success in other events, including a silver and bronze in women's discus, with Oladipo Obiageri Amaechi marking her first international appearance for Nigeria after switching from Great Britain.

The championship concluded with Nigeria earning six medals: two gold, two silver, and three bronze.
