Tobi Amusan Claims Third African Title in Ghana

Tobi Amusan secured her third African title in the women's 100m hurdles during the 24th African Athletics Championship held in Ghana on May 13. She led the final, finishing ahead of Zimbabwe's Ashlei Miller, who took silver, and Nigeria's Adaobi Tabugbo, who earned bronze.

This victory adds to Amusan's previous triumphs in 2018 on home soil and in 2022. Despite technical issues affecting the championship's timing system, which led to criticism, Amusan had already set the fastest times in both the heats and semi-finals.

Nigeria's overall performance included six medals: one gold, two silver, and three bronze. Other notable performances included Rosemari Chukwuma winning silver in the women's 100m and Chidera Ezeakor earning bronze in the men's 100m.

The championship is set to conclude on Sunday, May 17, with Nigeria's team having opened their campaign on Tuesday.
