Anambra State Bans Unauthorized Speed Bumps on Roads

The Anambra State government has issued a directive banning the construction of unauthorized speed bumps on public roads. This announcement was made by Dr.

Law Mefor, the state Commissioner for Information, on Saturday. The government has observed that residents and communities have been erecting speed bumps indiscriminately, which has led to the defacement of roads and adverse effects on road infrastructure and safety.

As a result, all speed bumps and their locations must now receive prior approval from the state government. The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure will provide a uniform design for the speed bumps, which will be limited to critical areas such as markets, churches, and schools.

The government has warned that constructing speed bumps without authorization or outside approved locations will be considered an offense, and stricter sanctions will be imposed on violators.
