Nsugbe Community Appeals to Senator Nwoye on Election

On Sunday, August 30, 2026, Victor Attah, chairman of the caretaker committee appointed by the Chukwuma Soludo-led Anambra State Government, publicly appealed to Senator Tony Nwoye to refrain from interfering in the traditional ruler election in Nsugbe community. This appeal followed the suspension of the Nsugbe Town Union on August 24, 2026, due to allegations against the body.

The dispute began when the traditional stool was zoned to Ivite village, leading Senator Nwoye, a chieftain of the NDC, to agitate over the election process. In response, the caretaker committee replaced the original delegate system with an open voting process for eligible Ivite villagers.

Despite this change, Attah alleged that Nwoye attempted to disrupt the election on August 30. He clarified that no court order was blocking the election and defended the State Attorney General, Tobechukwu Nweke, against politically motivated accusations.

Attah commended the state government for its intervention and called for community support to restore order.
