Anambra CP Leads Security Deployment to Enforce Onitsha Market Closure

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioy Orutugu, spearheaded a security operation to enforce the closure of Onitsha main market after traders failed to comply with Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo's directive. The closure was ordered following traders' disregard for the Monday sit-at-home order.

The CP, along with security agencies, barricaded the market with hundreds of personnel and vehicles strategically positioned. Despite initial protests by residents and traders blocking the Asaba-Onitsha expressway, security forces dispersed the crowd.

The CP's presence aimed to maintain public order, safety, and confidence in Onitsha and its environs. The security assessment and deployment were part of proactive measures to prevent breaches of public order.

The situation in Onitsha remained calm under the firm control of the police command, reassuring residents and traders of their safety.
