Lere Olayinka Challenges Peter Obi to Halt Campaign

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, urged Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, to cease his campaign. This call followed Obi's assertion that he would end his campaign if anyone could prove that Anambra State government staff were owed salaries when he left office as governor from 2006 to 2014.

The Anambra State government, represented by Commissioner Dr Law Mefor, countered Obi's claims, stating that his administration left behind outstanding loans and arrears in salaries, pensions, and gratuities. The current administration under Governor Chukwuma Soludo has reportedly cleared about N22 billion in gratuity arrears owed to retired state and local government employees and teachers.

Olayinka referenced evidence provided by the Soludo administration, questioning whether Obi would honor his promise to stop campaigning now that evidence of debt has been presented.
