Anambra First Lady Advocates Against HIV Stigmatization

Anambra First Lady Chinwe Onuigbo urged for an end to HIV stigmatization, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and consistent treatment during a humanitarian intervention in Awka, Anambra State. The initiative was prompted by the urgent case of a 13-year-old girl, Ifechukwu, who was receiving treatment for advanced HIV disease at Regina Caeli Hospital.

Mr. Soludo directed the mobilization of medical and nutritional support to stabilize and improve the child's welfare.

The delegation included representatives from the Healthy Living Initiative, ANSACA, NEPWHAN, and ASWHAN, who visited the patient to deliver food items, medical supplies, and financial assistance for treatment recovery. Dr.

Nkem Okeke, Executive Director of ANSACA, noted that the intervention demonstrated the life-saving value of timely humanitarian action. The First Lady's commitment to vulnerable groups, particularly children with serious health conditions, was underscored, along with a call for stronger community reporting systems to ensure early identification and treatment of severe HIV cases.
