Anambra First Lady Advocates for Children's Rights

Nony Soludo, the First Lady of Anambra State, has called for the protection of children's rights, urging government and community collaboration to safeguard their welfare and development. This appeal coincides with the annual observance of the Day of the African Child, which aims to promote children's education and welfare across Africa.

The urgency of her message was underscored by the recent case of Chiziterem, a 10-year-old boy from Enugu State, who was allegedly abused by his guardian in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, prompting public outrage. In response, Anambra State Governor, Dr.

Charles Soludo, directed the Anambra State Commission of Health, led by Dr. Afam Obidik, to facilitate the boy's transfer to a specialized medical facility for comprehensive treatment.

Following a hospital visit, Nony Soludo reported that the boy's condition was stable and he was responding positively to treatment. She pledged ongoing support for victims of abuse and emphasized the collective responsibility of society to protect children from violence and neglect.
