Nony Soludo Advocates Menstrual Hygiene in Anambra Schools

Nony Soludo, the First Lady of Anambra State, actively promoted menstrual hygiene on World Menstrual Hygiene Day by distributing sanitary pads to schoolgirls and advocating for the end of discrimination and stigma against menstruating women and girls. During the event held in Awka, she addressed approximately 2,000 students from secondary schools across the state, emphasizing that menstruation is a natural part of life and should not be a source of shame.

Nony Soludo has established 350 sanitary pad banks in secondary schools through the Healthy Live initiative, ensuring that students have regular access to sanitary pads without missing classes. She has distributed 25,000 packs of sanitary pads so far, aiming to improve hygiene, restore confidence, and reduce absenteeism among young girls.

The initiative also focuses on educating parents and schools about menstrual hygiene, fostering a supportive environment for girls, and promoting healthy living practices within communities.
