Anambra State Sets ₦50m Fee for 2027 Presidential Aspirants

The Anambra State government has imposed a ₦50 million permit fee on presidential aspirants wishing to campaign in the state for the 2027 general elections. This new regulation was announced by Chika Ngobili, the Assistant General Manager of the Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA), during a press briefing in Awka.

The fee structure also includes ₦20 million for senatorial aspirants, ₦5 million for candidates contesting House of Representatives seats, ₦2.5 million for chairmanship candidates, ₦1.5 million for state House of Assembly aspirants, and ₦100,000 for councillorship candidates. The permit covers various campaign activities, including posters, billboards, and public address systems.

Ngobili emphasized that the regulation aims to maintain order during the election period and prevent damage to public infrastructure. Political parties and support groups are prohibited from erecting billboards without proper registration and permits.

Violators of these regulations will face sanctions as per existing state laws.
