Anambra Police Debunk False Helicopter Security Alert

The Anambra State Police Command, represented by spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, clarified on Thursday that reports of a military helicopter dropping an unknown item in a bush location near the boundary of Nimo and Adazi Nnukwu in Anaocha Local Government Area were false. Following the alarm, the police promptly deployed operatives to the area to verify the situation.

Their assessment found that the location remained calm, with no suspicious objects or security concerns observed, and normal activities continued in the vicinity. Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioy Orutugu, urged the public to disregard the false alarm and to refrain from spreading unverified information that could cause panic and undermine public confidence in the state's security architecture.

He reiterated the command's commitment to proactive policing and collaboration with security agencies and community stakeholders to maintain peace and security across Anambra State.
