Anambra State Honors Councils for Healthcare Excellence

Anambra State recognized outstanding councils for their contributions to healthcare excellence at an award ceremony in Awka. Chinwe Onuigbo spoke about the challenges in primary healthcare leadership and the need for innovative administration at the grassroots level.

Dr. Afam Obidik, the Commissioner for Health, described the program as a strategic effort to motivate local governments to take greater ownership of healthcare delivery.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has made significant investments in primary healthcare infrastructure, positioning Anambra as a leading state in healthcare performance in the Southeast region. Dr.

Nony Soludo, the Governor's wife, was acknowledged for her initiatives supporting public health, including a campaign focused on disease prevention and healthy nutrition. She emphasized the current administration's achievements, such as upgrading health facilities, recruiting healthcare personnel, and improving maternal and child healthcare services.

Mr. Soludo reiterated that primary healthcare is central to disease prevention, immunization, health education, and maternal care, complementing government efforts through community-based interventions.
