Anambra Lawmaker Sues APGA and INEC Over Primary Results

Innoc Ojik, the current representative of Oyi Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, has initiated legal action against the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The lawsuit, filed on June 4, 2026, in the Federal High Court in Awka, challenges the declaration of Kosisochukwu Ibemesi as the winner of the APGA primary election conducted on May 23, 2026.

Ojik claims to have secured the highest number of votes, totaling 3,524, during the primary election and argues that he should have been declared the winner. He seeks to nullify APGA's declaration of Ibemesi and requests that the court order APGA to submit his name as the party's candidate for the Oyi Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

Additionally, Ojik is asking for INEC to recognize his candidacy and is seeking N100 million in exemplary damages against APGA and Ibemesi. The court has yet to set a date for the hearing of the matter.
