Anambra Lawmaker Sues APGA, INEC Over Primary Results

Innoc Ojik, the current representative for the Oyi Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, has initiated legal action against the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The lawsuit, marked FHC/AWK/CS/173/2026, was filed in the Federal High Court in Awka on June 4, 2026, by counsel Reuben Atabo SAN.

Ojik is contesting the declaration of Kosisochukwu Ibemesi as the winner of the APGA primary election held on May 23, 2026. Ojik claims to have secured the highest number of votes, totaling 3,524, during the primary election and argues that he should be recognized as the rightful candidate.

He seeks the court to nullify APGA's declaration of Ibemesi as the winner and to direct APGA to submit his name to INEC as the party's candidate for the 2027 general elections. Additionally, Ojik requests the court to award him N100 million in exemplary damages against APGA and Ibemesi.
