Angola's SME Launches New eVisa Portal for Travelers

Angola has transitioned its electronic visa applications to a new official platform, evisa.ao, replacing the previous portal at smevisa.gov.ao, which now redirects to the updated site. This change was confirmed by the Angolan Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) as part of a broader digitalization initiative.

On August 27, 2026, during a meeting in Luanda, the Angolan Ministry of the Interior described the new SME portal as essential for modernizing the country's migration administration. Applicants must create a personal user account to access visa services, which involves filling out an application form, uploading supporting documents, and making online payments.

The SME states that applications will be processed within 72 hours. A significant change is the integration of payment into the online application process, with fees being non-refundable.

Minor corrections to applications can be made at no extra cost, while substantial changes may require a new application and payment. The portal also allows applications through representatives.

Visa-free arrangements for certain nationalities remain unaffected.
