Nigeria Addresses Security and Passport Issues in Angola

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through Defence Minister Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd), assured Nigerians living in Angola that it is taking decisive steps to address the country's security challenges and enhance border security. This assurance was given during an engagement with the Nigerian community in Luanda, Angola, on the sidelines of the 21st Extra-ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), where Nigeria's delegation was led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Musa acknowledged the security threats linked to instability in the Sahel region and emphasized the need for improved security architecture and border controls. He stated that the government is implementing comprehensive measures to secure borders and enhance the operational capacity of the Armed Forces and other security agencies.

Additionally, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo addressed concerns regarding access to Nigerian passport services, indicating that he would explore the establishment of a passport production center in Angola to facilitate easier access for Nigerians residing there.
