Nasarawa Residents Protest by Burning Gov Sule's Posters

On Friday, residents of Kofan Kaura in Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, expressed their anger by burning campaign posters of Governor Abdullahi Sule, who is affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC). This protest was sparked by Sule's announcement to contest the Nasarawa North senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, despite previously stating in a national television interview that he would not seek another electoral position after completing his current term as governor.

The residents displayed their discontent by setting ablaze the campaign materials, which featured the APC's official symbol, the broom. Accompanying the protest were inscriptions that read "reject rig, reject imposition," reflecting their grievances against Sule's political ambitions.

In the recent APC primary elections, Sule emerged as the winner with 47,393 votes, defeating his closest rival, Sila Agara, who received 2,915 votes.
