Plateau Residents Protest After Deadly Jos Attack

On Monday morning, residents of Plateau State protested in Anguwan Rukuba following a deadly attack that occurred on Sunday evening, which left several people injured. The attack, reportedly carried out by gunmen dressed in military uniforms, took place around 8 PM in a busy market area, prompting residents to flee.

Eyewitness accounts described the assailants shooting indiscriminately. The protests, which were captured in videos circulating on social media, expressed frustration over the government's failure to prevent such violence.

In response to the unrest, the Plateau State government, led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, imposed a 48-hour curfew across the Jos North Local Government Area. Mutfwang condemned the attack, labeling it barbaric and unprovoked, and assured residents that security agencies would be mobilized to apprehend those responsible.

Joyc Lohya Ramnap confirmed the curfew's implementation in a statement.
