Plateau Youths Demand Action Against Rising Insecurity

On Wednesday, Plateau State youths, represented by the Plateau Youth Coalition, staged a protest at the Government House to demand urgent action against the increasing wave of attacks and killings in the state. The protest highlighted the frustrations of residents living in fear due to persistent violence, which has also targeted security personnel.

Ezekiel Bini, president of the Plateau Youth Coalition, condemned a recent ambush that resulted in the deaths of security operatives in Kanam Local Government Area, warning that civilians feel increasingly vulnerable. The protest included a list of demands presented to the state government, with Governor Caleb Mutfwang urged to take action.

Esther Banga, representing the Berom Women Development Association, lamented the hardships faced by families due to ongoing violence. The protest follows a series of attacks linked to armed groups, leading to loss of lives and displacement of residents, with calls for stronger security measures, including the establishment of a state police force.
