French media giant takes over MultiChoice Group (MCG), the owner of DStv and GOtv, marking a significant change after 30 years. The takeover, announced on September 19, 2025, follows the fulfillment of conditions set by MCG.

MultiChoice, founded in 1994, has been a dominant satellite provider in Africa and Asia. The merger creates a combined group serving 40 million subscribers across nearly 70 countries.

The new leadership, with David Mignot as CEO and Nicolas Dandoy as CFO, signals a new phase for the company. The acquisition aims to support local businesses and maintain investment in entertainment and sports programming.
