ADC Expels Bala and Abejide Amid Leadership Crisis

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of David Mark, expelled former Deputy National Chairman Nafiu Bala, House of Representatives member Leke Abejide, and three other members for alleged anti-party activities. This decision was announced on Tuesday during the party's national congress held in Abuja.

The expulsions are part of the ADC's efforts to assert control amid a protracted internal crisis, which has seen factions emerge, particularly around Bala's continued claim to the position of authentic National Chairman despite earlier reports of his resignation. The situation escalated when Bala and Abejide led a protest at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja, calling on prominent political figures, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, to intervene against alleged attempts to hijack the party's structure.

The leadership crisis has led to multiple legal actions challenging the legitimacy of the party's leadership and its registration status with INEC.
