APC Accuses ADC of Year-Long Salary Arrears as 2027 Race Heats Up

The ruling APC claims the opposition ADC has not paid staff for over 12 months, while ADC denies the allegation and pivots to economic hardship under President Tinubu.

The All Progressives Congress has accused the African Democratic Congress of neglecting to pay its workers for over twelve months. Dele Alake, who serves as the APC's Presidential Campaign Council spokesperson and Minister of Solid Minerals, made this allegation on Monday.

The party used this charge to query whether the ADC could govern effectively if unable to handle its own financial responsibilities. Such accusations have become increasingly prominent in the run-up to the 2027 presidential election.

Rejecting these claims as unfounded, the ADC moved swiftly to counter the narrative. National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi of the opposition party demanded that the APC provide documentation for its assertions.

He also pressed the ruling coalition to justify its performance under President Bola Tinubu. The ADC characterized the allegations as propaganda aimed at obscuring core governance failures from public discourse.

ADC representatives have pivoted attention toward issues they say matter most to ordinary Nigerians: eroding purchasing power, scarcity of jobs for youth, and ongoing insecurity throughout communities. The party maintains that the ruling coalition refuses to engage substantively on policy.

Instead of addressing criticisms of its governance record, the ADC asserts, the APC has launched personal attacks on opposition personalities, notably former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the ADC's presidential candidate. This exchange reflects the growing hostility characterizing Nigeria's political season.

Both coalitions have traded serious allegations regarding competence and fiscal management, yet neither has disclosed verifiable evidence that neutral analysts might examine. The disagreement highlights fundamental contrasts between how incumbents and challengers frame their campaign messages as political parties gear up for nationwide balloting scheduled for 2027.
